Yesterday was busy. Mark and I went to get our hair coiffed at the downtown salon so we will look our best when we head off on my birthday trip on Sunday, then we had lunch out, then we wrapped it all up with a creative outing to our writing group. It was also a very strange day.

I felt lovely having my hair done, then enjoyed our lunch – BUT that weird reaction where I puff up like crazy after consuming a small amount of food occurred again. Darn it. Still have not narrowed it down enough to avoid the culprit, and restaurant meals can have ingredients you don’t know about. Long story short, I still felt overly full and uncomfortable hours later when we went to writing group. I didn’t want to miss this session because of all I’ve missed lately and because we will miss next week when we are away. I was so stuffed I didn’t bother to do more than drink water.

Then we had the STRANGEST writing prompts of all time. Mine was:

  1. A tap dance studio
  2. H. Ross Perot
  3. A scepter
  4. Getting the band Aerosmith to their concert on time in Los Angeles

Believe it or not, I DID make a short story out of this, but it was tough on such a full stomach.

Mark’s prompt was even worse, but he made a WONDERFUL story from it, and has been enjoying his new creative power.

See, you never know what you might be good at until you try.

Today

Hooray! Got caught up with comments on the blog and emails from when I was away! This has been on my mind, and I so appreciate you BCs for commenting to each other and for taking the time to support me. It was my first priority today to acknowledge that and to get the comments answered. If possible, I’ll try to record some of day 103 when I get back from my therapy appointment today. Fingers crossed I’ll get a show released before we leave for my birthday.

Body Balance

BB (Body Balance) number: 5.
Sleep: 6 hours divided.
Tummy/Gut: Gut still WAY full.
Hungry: Not hungry until 3 hours after waking. Ate very small breakfast, not wanting to add to my full gut feeling.
Energy: Moderate.
Mood: Pretty happy considering the belly ache.

BB is my personal criteria, and I don’t think too hard about it. I ask myself at the keyboard, what is my BB? A number between 1-10, including halves, pops into my head. I write it in my post Then I figure out why it is higher or lower and gently make note.

If you are interested these are my measures.

  1. Sleep. Quality and Amount.
  2. Tummy/Gut – If I ate what my body asked for, usually above and below the belly button feel balanced. Ate too much, below the belly button feels more full. Ate too little, the reverse.
  3. Am I hungry within 1 hour of waking? I have found that I feel best if I am hungry within 1 hour of waking. This tends to make my eating day even and not heavy on food in the evening. But I don’t eat if not hungry unless I’m about to ride or hike. I’ve learned I need to fuel these morning activities, or I’ll bonk.
  4. What is my energy level? Subjective, but telling.
  5. A quick look at my mood.

I know it’s been awhile since I posted one of these. Besides being away and having chores, as well as comments piling up, I’ve been in a bit of an emotional funk. Not really depression, but a lot of feelings to process and I’ve felt a need to kind of be quiet and let things slide. Just a bit tired. But I’m starting to come out from this and thinking about organizing a show before Mark and I leave for my birthday trip in a few days.

What’s new? Been enjoying my animation voice class with David, took a bonus narration class and ran into some of my peeps from the voice actors’ social group and had a good time. I can see from the experience that I have a long way to go, but it feels good to be on the path.

Today

Went hiking for fun the other day, no recording as I needed to get up and down before the big rain. Hence the tardy show is on my mind. Slowly going through the blog comments and emails. Have a few audio bits to review as well. Also, Mark and I want to get a bike ride in today. That will be good as the rain kept me indoors yesterday. SoCal is back to its sunny self, now to work on MY sunnier self.

Hey, there are gremlins in the show notes notification system again. So I’m sending this status via email to see if it works for this post type and just not podcast show notes. So if you didn’t know, Day 102 is live and you can click here to go to it.

Status 2-19-15*

RECORDED show 102 at Descanso Gardens and then had a busy day getting it ready to publish. Hope you like it!

Today

I WISH the darn gremlins would exit my dang system.

BUSY BUSY BUSY – I had my singing lesson yesterday and I’m getting ready to fly home to Washington for a few days next week. I also had some bad luck on Saturday. Our truck’s check engine light came on and I could tell by how it was driving that this wasn’t to be ignored. Double problem, it was right when I was on my way to David’s for our final coaching session. Geez! I made the decision to go home rather than risk conking out by the side of the road and had a few tense minutes wondering if I would make it, or if my last bravery day would be waiting for a tow truck vs. doing my final voice acting dialogs.

I made it! Called David, he graciously let me reschedule our session to this week (day before I fly out, sigh), but quickly I got Red Baby (my other car) ready to go and off to Burbank and my last class. I felt really good about my progress and will play these dialogs for you in the next couple of episodes. All of my scene partners gave permission and I’m so grateful to them for it. Even so, my report card didn’t show I’d improved as much as I’d hoped. More to work on before I can progress.

My singing is also improving and I thank Viki, my teacher. She really knows how to communicate so I can understand some of the weird and unknown concepts involved with singing. But because I’m going to be traveling and busy, I’m taking some brief time off from lessons and asked for some great exercises to do in the meantime. I record my lessons so I can practice.

Today

RECORD OR NOT TO RECORD?! Today I was going to record a show, but I wouldn’t have had time to write the show and get up the mountain before it’s too darn hot. So I’m off to hike now, write later, and maybe record down at the podcast rock in the park today or at Descanso tomorrow.

Tonight a weird movie-esque two date scenario as I flit between my writing group and my voice acting group as they are being held at almost the same time in restaurants right next to each other.

HOORAY got my speaking proposal in. And while I was writing it, felt a sense of excitement to actually do the session if the proposal is accepted. That’s a good sign. That being said, I’m not sure if this is the direction for me, so I’m using this as a stick in the water. If it floats under the bridge, a sign of progress this way. If it gets stuck, find another stick that floats.

I also wore my jammies again until 2:00 PM! It’s been fun, but I’m sick of this and back to getting up early and making myself a bit more presentable.

Cooked some pasta and sauce I’ve been putting off, and Mark and I actually ate dinner together at the same time.

No repeat yet of the puffy that acctacked me a few days ago. Still trying to eat simply and few ingredients at a time to investigate further.

Didn’t review as much of my voice acting dialog as I’d planned.

Today

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! I woke up and looked in the mirror and told MYSELF ‘I love you’. Know it sounds cheesy, but you can celebrate this way sweetie or no sweetie, and practice being kind to yourself. Gracie the cat, then came right up for a cuddle and for her milk song. Guess she is my Valentine today. Mark is NOT a big ‘celebrate on actual day’ person like I am. So Valentine’s is a day I gave up for my birthday hijinks. But he usually does some small thing, sometimes not. Also, by celebrating it the day after, much easier to get reservations, much less expensive and loads of chocolate and flowers on sale. LOL.

Voice acting for me. This is the last day of this session with Marc Cashman’s class, and hence also my last solo session (for now) with David Babich, my voice acting coach. Today’s class is a little less pressure as it is 100% dialogs, and no monolog to prepare. That being said, we have 26 pages of dialogs to review as we may have to do any of them at Marc’s pleasure. If I do a great one, I’ll try and remember to get my partners’ permission to play it for you πŸ™‚
