Podcast Recap

From Tacoma, WA, I record a special letting go of my past identity across from my old home on Puget Sound. Comments about Day 141 from BCs Josephine, Petra and Dawny. More ponderings along the waterfront as I process how it felt saying a final good-bye to Mom and how BC Dave gave me comfort in an unexpected way. We celebrate a huge milestone with BC Jo from the UK and hear some samples of her many comments. Stéfanie from Quebec returns with a brand new Secret Topic of the Day.

I appreciate your sharing this emotional adventure Laurie, admittedly it was difficult for me to listen to parts. But I’m certain but as hard as it is for you to feel them. I hope your new phase of life comes with peace and comfort.

I’m soooooooo glad for the secret question and the thoughts it led you to. I needed to hear that segment. It was so good for me. I appreciate you and this show.

I’m going thru so much right now. Stressful and emotional. My husband isn’t dealing well with all the things either, and his mental illness makes it even more challenging, so adding that addition to my shoulders on top of the actual stuff too. Whoa. Running into trouble trying to secure a home loan. And time is going so fast. My husband deals with change and the unknown worse than I do. It’s not a good combination when we are both off the rails. Ooooooops

At least it’s summer and we have full sun. And a lot of it.

I love this show! And am so thankful for friends. I feel like I’m there. And interacting. Truly comforting. Thank you friends.

Dawny, I can’t even imagine the upheaval you are experiencing with leaving your house and home and having to dismantle same. Sending positive support vibes for you and your hubby. It seems we both are entering new chapters in our lives, like it or not, here we come! I too was so happy that Stéfanie returned with a new secret topic for me. My answer, on listening back, was not what I would expect, and gave me some new things to work on too. I’m glad you are here with me, it does make these interesting challenges a little lighter. xoxoxoxoxox

      Hi Dawny,
Hang in there…..you said “time is going so fast.” I seem to have that realization smack in the face at least 20 times a day! I try my best to think “well, it’s going so fast…these difficult circumstances will surely go fast, too.” Alas…..not sure if it helps but if it can just keep our heads above water for one more day then I guess that’s all we really need. I’m trying to be more mindful and live in the moment (like our Dear Laurie!) so let’s press on together. I love all the BCs and feel blessed to have this group of friends. As Laurie says…XOXO
      Josephine

    Hi BCs
Laurie what an emotional show, and how you finish by letting go of the past to focus on the present and its blessings is so much wisdom. Your words were touching and soothing and your words were so well said that I must say I felt a strong urge to call my mother and tell her I love her, which I did.I hope you find peace and I send you the most tender thoughts and a big big hug. To you too Dawnie, as you are hitting a rough spot! I send you love and patience.

Thanks for your answer to the secret topic Laurie. The main idea that I keep from your answer is about how we all have things that come easier to us than others. As part of my list of things that I do easily, with almost no effort: teach. Art. Sleep. Empathy. Job interviews.

I guess I need to let go of the feeling of “i wish i was better at this”. Letting go of the feeling of resignation. Letting go of the feeling of sigh. Letting go of the feeling of the impression that it will be an eternal battle. Letting go, over and over, letting go of being tired to let go… we all have our battles, but we can choose to give them less importance.

    Take care. Stéfanie xx

Oh Stéfanie, I can think of NO better tribute that my mom would have enjoyed than knowing you sent love to yours after hearing our story. Thank you for sharing that. It was a very emotional time, but I can truly say, that hard as it was, it has helped me move on very much.

I really like your take away from my secret topic answer:

And I think this would be a GREAT tip for all of us BCs to create lists of what we are actually good at! It seems that we sometimes get mired down into all that we lack vs. celebrating what talents or joys we have. Here’s my list for today:

      I am naturally good at:
      1. Talking!
      2. Writing stories
      3. Handling cats
      4. Telling Jokes
      5. Motivating and encouraging people

I’ll read this next show and I hope it might inspire other BCs to share their strengths too. (If you’re reading this comment, you don’t have to wait though! Go ahead and reply, and I’ll read your list too) 😉

I also have to tell you that part of my answer to you, Stéfanie, I was very tempted to edit out – but decided to respect the format and let it ride. That part will form the basis for next show’s letting go…so see dear Mon, Amie, I have been doubly inspired by you today. xoxoxoxox

      Hi Stefanie,
I truly resonate with your last sentence “Letting go, over and over, letting go of being tired to let go….” Thank you for sharing and for making me even try to think of things that I do easily. Before listening to you I might have said ‘nothing’ but upon thinking….I came up with a couple: spelling, grammar, and finding misspelled words in practically anything I read! (I’m talking published works, such as books (even textbooks!); newspapers (remember those? LOL) and now on the silly local newscasts. They are full of errors – from the weather reports to those trailers that constantly stream across the screen. Thanks again for all the joy you bring to us BCs with your Secret Topics. Laurie, you are BRAVE for answering these on the fly! But I love it and I love you guys, too. XOXO

    Hi Laurie,
I listened to this episode at least 4 times and each time so many thoughts and feelings rose up….I’m sure if we were having a cuppa coffee together we could have talked for hours on this one. But since that’s not possible in real life, just know that I HAVE HAD that cuppa coffee with you – in my mind. I do want to tell you here that I got a real chuckle – each time I listened – to you ‘walking your mom’s pants’ down the street of the old neighborhood. Thanks for making me smile in the midst of such a serious topic. I love you, Miss Laurie!

Hi Josephine, I LOVE the cuppas we have shared, and know I feel the same. I’m touched that you listened to this episode so many times – and also very grateful to the fun you received from my own version of the “traveling pants”. It was a tough time, but healing and knowing I had your support really, really helps. xoxox
