Up early and excited to try walking around my local park without my cane! I’m also getting the jump on recording before the park fills up with the many families who will be out picnicking to celebrate Memorial Day in the U.S.

Podcast Recap

Find out what happened after last episode’s epic story of me saying ‘No’. I ponder different flavors and reasons for saying ‘Yes”. Shout-outs to new listener and brave companion Brandi and to Michelle Mc who, like many of you, felt bad that I felt bad and sent me an encouraging comment and explained a good method for avoiding binges called HALT

Still walking with a cane due to my bad back. Since it’s an overcast day, I enjoy my shady time in my regular spot at the dry riverbed at Descanso.

Podcast Recap

I discover the painful difference between Robot Alien distraction and true grief. I then struggle to relate the powerful, meaningful event that taught me this without telling actual details, because it involves people currently in my life. I muse too on the nature of friendship and relationships. I’m delighted to wish Brave Companion Stefano a Happy 46th Birthday on day 46! Also good wishes for Cheryl’s birthday that was yesterday. Comments and thoughts by Michelle Mc, Cheryl and Stéfanie. Stéfanie proposes a new feature for the show. Shout-outs for FaceBook supporters and iTunes reviewers.

Here I am on my hobbly way around the park for episode 45. I stop in front of a home lucky enough to back right up to the park. How cool is that?

Podcast Recap

I take a bonus walk to clear my head. The Alien Robots attack my mind all weekend with self-criticism and visions of chips making my bad back all better. Valiantly, I overcome their taunts thanks to encouragement from Brave Companions Sue, Anne, Jodi, Danielle, Abby, and Janet . I give you an unflinching glimpse into the battle despite fearing to once again, come off as pathetic. As I finally return to walking, -er hobbling, with my cane around the park after my weekend of severe back trouble, I ponder the difference between fact and what those pesky robot aliens have to say. Josh Woodward says, ‘Thanks’ for supporting his Kickstarter campaign.

Here I am with my trusty cane ready to hobble over to my ‘back of park’ shady big rock to record episode 44.

Podcast Recap

A sudden bad back forces me to practice getting over “Why Me?” as I hobble around Descanso Gardens. Michelle McKinney’s comment makes me think about “Why me?” striking at parties and how we might nip that feeling in the bud before the Robot Aliens can attack! Long time listener, Michelle shares what it was like to be on the show via the bravery hotline and leaves a detailed comment about Binge Extinction from her ongoing therapy. Shout-outs to new listener, Sunshine and to returning, commenter, Stéfanie from Canada.

Squirrel spread-eagled on its belly in a shady patch of cement walkway.

SO DARN HOT even the squirrels were spread-eagled hugging the cooler cement in the shade. At first I thought they were injured as I saw several in this strange position on my walk around Descanso Gardens recording episode 44, but they all sprang up at my approach and resumed scampering up trees and running around, so I guess this is a method of squirrel air conditioning!

Big boulder in the shade

My trusty ‘back of park’ big rock for recording at Descanso Gardens as it is nicely positioned in the shade. Yesterday, when I recorded episode 44, it was a bit low to sit on, but I managed with the help of my cane to perch against it.

Eating Disorders and Social Anxiety Disorder
by Arlin Cuncic a social anxiety disorder specialist. This article looks at the possible link between Eating Disorders and Social Anxiety Disorder. A Sentence that rang out to me was,

Fear of eating in public is a symptom common of both SAD and eating disorders.

A bit dry, but an interesting read.
